Happy Friday Families!
It was our first full week back in what feels like a long time, and boy did we make the most of it. We started our Non-Fiction units in both Reading and Writing, did an author study on Mo Willems, and finished up our units on Winter and Arctic animals. And to top it off we ended the day by making SNOW! Thank you to all who helped make this fun experiment happen. The kids loved it. Report Cards: Report cards will go home on Jan 30th. Please review and sign your student’s report card. If you have any questions, please let me know. Jackets: Please be sure that your student is wearing a proper jacket every day. Our assigned recess time is in the morning, when it is still frequently only in the mid 30s. Break Out Night: Please join us Jan 30th for Technology Break Out night as one of our school’s Title 1 Events. Drop in from 6:30-7:30. Bingo: The January BINGO challenge is ending Wednesday, so be sure to send in completed BINGO boards. Box Tops! Keep sending in your box tops! This week we enjoyed learning about Penguins.We also wrote about our favorite Jan Brett story from our author study last week. This week we enjoyed learning about Winter, and boy has it felt like winter this week! We also learned about animals that hibernate. We completed our Jan Brett author study, and enjoyed reading many of her wonderful children’s stories. Next week we look forward to writing about our favorite one of her books. Cookies and Cocoa Reading Celebration: Today we sipped delicious hot cocoa and celebrated all of the students’ hard work over the break! We celebrated both our boy and girl top readers for the challenge, as well as our two top Raz Kids readers from the break. Way to go, readers! Box Tops! Our hard work collecting has paid off, and we are this quarter’s box top winners! Our class will enjoy cookies in the cafeteria Thursday to celebrate.
