Happy Friday Families!
Today marked the end of the first quarter! It is hard to believe how fast this year is flying by, I am looking forward to meeting with you all next week to share some of the exciting progress your students have already made. And having our Fall Harvest Celebration today was the perfect way to celebrate all of our hard work! Thank you to all who volunteered and helped make it such a success! :) White folders went home today. Be sure to look over the work inside and sign the folder. Don’t forget to place your scholastic order! Order some fun books for the holidays and help support our class. Our code is P6TQZ. This is the link to order. Next week we will be talking about voting in preparation for the big election. Monday November 7, the students here at Selwyn will get to cast their vote for the presidential election as well as for their choice of spirit day. Later this month we will be talking about the First Thanksgiving. Our class will be working with Mrs. Abbate’s class to hold our own feast and recreate the coming together of the Native Americans and Pilgrims. Please send in a large brown paper bag (like you get groceries in) for your student to use to make their Native American vest. Starting with second quarter students will have the opportunity to work on iPads in our classroom. We will have a small set for students to get to use during different times of our day. For hygiene reasons and to reduce the potential spread of lice, I recommend you send in a pair of headphones for your student to use. We will keep them in a labeled baggie in the classroom. I recommend the bigger style headphones as opposed to earbuds. They seem to be the most comfortable and hold up the best. Have a great weekend! Mrs. Seropian

Happy Friday Families!
What an amazing Friday!! Red Friday was a total success! The students had a blast celebrating all of the amazing reading and fundraising our students did this summer. The break-dancers were a class favorite of the event. And the ice cream after lunch!! We also really enjoyed our Fun Friday with the Fire Department! We even got to tour the fire truck. Next week we will be learning about spiders! If you see any creepy crawlies out this weekend take a look at them. ;) We will also be making our Witch’s Brew. Thank you to all who have sent in supplies! First quarter conferences are required. If you have not signed up, please sign up here. White folders went home last week, and I am still missing some. Please be sure to return the signed folder. Don’t forget to place your scholastic order before next Friday! Order some fun books for the holidays and help support our class. Our code is P6TQZ. This is the link to order. Have a great weekend! Mrs. Seropian Happy Friday Families!
We have had a great week learning about nocturnal animals. We even got to create our own night scene showing nocturnal animals. We used crayons and then used black paint overtop to add the cover of darkness. Next week we will be talking about pumpkins! In your child’s blue folder is a sheet called “homework for parents.” Please fill this out and return it to school Monday. This will help me to be sure I answer all your questions during our upcoming conferences. Speaking of conferences, if you have not signed up, please sign up here. White folders went home today, so be sure you check them out, sign, and return. Don’t forget to place your scholastic order before the end of the month. Remember the more you order, you earn points to buy books for our classroom library! Our code is P6TQZ Have a great weekend! Mrs. Seropian Happy Friday Families!
We have really enjoyed learning about the five senses this week. Lots of fun labs where we had to rely on one of our senses to tell us what we were hearing or smelling or touching or tasting. I was really impressed how well the kids were able to figure out what each was using their senses. Wednesday is a early release day. Your students will be sent home according to their normal transportation; if you need to make a change be sure to send in a handwritten note that day. In your student’s blue folder I have taped their student information. This will allow you to log into Compass Learning, Dreambox, and Raz Rids from home. The directions for logging in are under the “technology from home” tab. Next week Selwyn will be participating in a spare change collection contest. The collections will be donated to the Autism Speaks Walk. The class with the largest donation will win a donut party! So if you have any loose change sitting around ( if you're like me, maybe in your cup holders) send it in. Next week we will be learning about nocturnal animals! Also, be on the lookout for my email with sign ups for first quarter conferences. Can you believe that it's almost the end of the first quarter? The conferences will be on the Halloween teacher workday. Stay safe in all this rain and have a great weekend! Mrs. Seropian |
