Happy Friday Families!
This week we enjoyed learning about spiders. We compared arachnids and insects, and finished the week off with a Fun Friday spider craft. This week we began our focus on lowercase letters. We are continuing to practice letters, how to write them, their sounds, and their Letterland Character Name. Use the character sheet in your child’s Cougar Folder to practice the letters and sounds. We learned letters c, o, s, a, t, v, w, d, and g. Our field trip to Stepp’s Orchard was a great success. The kids had a great time learning about apple farming, how to pick apples, the different ways apples taste, and getting to explore an apple farm. Thank you to all who volunteered and helped make this possible! Letterland Day! Don’t forget, on Tuesday October 31 (Halloween) the kindergarten team will be dressing up as the characters from Letterland! In addition to the copy of the characters on our website, there is a copy in your student’s cougar folder. Your child can be any character they choose. Their outfit can be as simple as wearing that character’s color, or more elaborate. Google images has some examples to give you ideas if you need. We will do our parade on the track on October 31 at 8:45. You are invited to attend and watch our parade. The students will share their character, letter, and sound as they travel around the track. Magnet Letters: in the center of your student’s cougar folder is a sheet with ideas for how to use magnetic letters at home. This is a helpful resource if you are looking for ways to support your student’s literacy growth at home. Classroom need: if anyone can send in a prepackaged “emergency” snack it would be greatly appreciated. We have run out of our stash for when students don’t have a snack. Scholastic: Don’t forget to place your scholastic order to help support our classroom library! My class code is RD4R8 You will enter our class code when you order. I will place our class order at the end of each month. The books are delivered to the school and your purchase helps earn books and resources for our class. Yearbook order information went home this week. Be sure to place your order online! Calling all Box Tops! Don’t forget to send them in. Please visit our Signup Genius for Mystery Reader and sign up! Have a great weekend! Mrs. Seropian and Mrs. Holbert
