Happy Friday Families!
This week we enjoyed learning about Oviparous Animals. We will continue talking about them the week we return from break. I know all the kiddos are looking forward to the egg hunt! I think we are all looking forward to spring break too! We also read the story Willow’s Whispers and learned about confidence. We made “magic microphones” to help us with have confidence when we need it, just like Willow in the story. Reading A-Z challenge: I have challenged students to read on their RAZ kids accounts over the break. I will be awarding prizes to the boy and girl who read the most time on their account over the break. A fun way to keep reading while we are out! Oviparous Egg Hunt: For the Egg Hunt each student will need to send in 20 eggs. The eggs will need to be numbered on the outside from 1 to 20 in sharpie (great number writing practice!). The eggs can contain any treat you like! I recommend some of the little trinkets from Oriental Trading or the Dollar Store, but you can do sealed candy as well. Also for the egg hunt, please send in a clean empty gallon jug. This could be from milk or juice. We will use them to make baskets for the hunt. Postcards After spring break we will begin learning about maps and the United States. To inspire our learning we will do a postcard challenge! We will attempt to collect postcards from all 50 states. As you travel over spring break grab a postcard to send to our class. If you have family or friends around the country get them to send a postcard to our class. Classroom Need: Peeps! You received a letter today asking for Peeps. All shapes sizes and colors are welcome! We will need them by April 9th. We will be using them for some fun explorative science when we come back from spring break. Pictures: The spring portraits sent home last week are to preview. You keep what you would like to purchase and return any pictures you do not want to pay for. REMINDERS: Water Bottles: Please send your student to school with a water bottle so that they have access to water throughout the day. Also, please be sure that the bottle closes securely to avoid any leaks! RAZ Kids: Don’t forget to utilize your child’s subscription to RAZ kids at home! Such a great resource for extra reading at home. Reading Reef: The Reading Reef is starting to get covered in our fish! Please continue working on this at home. Don’t forget that in the Information tab of our website, you will find a pdf with flashcards for the words. Some fun ideas for games include, printing 2 copies and playing memory, go fish, or uno. Happy Fishing! Box Tops! Keep sending in your box tops! Scholastic: Don’t forget to place your scholastic order to help support our classroom library! My class code is RD4R8 You will enter our class code when you order. I will place our class order at the end of each month. The books are delivered to the school and your purchase helps earn books and resources for our class. Have a great Spring Break! Mrs. Seropian and Mrs. Holbert

This week we had a visit from Dr. Reid who reminded us of good dental health and how important it is to go to the dentist. The students also enjoyed participating in JumpeRope for Heart. We also had our Green Tasting! It was great fun and some of the kids even found a new green food that they like! Thank you to all who helped and sent in supplies! Book Fair: Next week we will have the Book Fair at Atkinson, March 19-23. It will be open daily from 8-4. Please consider supporting our school by coming out to shop with your child or by sending in money for them to shop. If you send in money, please send it in a sealed envelope with your child’s name. Also, please indicate if you want it to be used for something specific, and if it can be used for any of the small toys/bookmarks/pencils/etc that are often also for sale. Water Bottles: Due to changes in HCPS rules, our door is to remain closed and locked at all times. This impacts our ability to send students out to the water fountain to get water. Please send your student to school with a water bottle so that they have access to water throughout the day. Also, please be sure that the bottle closes securely to avoid any leaks! Classroom Need: If you are able to donate a spare pair of headphones it would be greatly appreciated. A few students have been unable to send a personal pair in, and most of my spare pairs have given out. REMINDERS: RAZ Kids: Don’t forget to utilize your child’s subscription to RAZ kids at home!
