Happy Friday Families!
We have enjoyed learning about weather this week. We made windsocks to capture and see the wind. We finished the week off with a fun lab using shaving cream and diluted paint to simulate how rain falls from clouds. Your students have been working so hard on their writing and illustrations for our class book. We are nearing completion and they look absolutely amazing! If you have not ordered one, please have your order to me by April 4. If you would like a book and need assistance, please let me know so that we can make arrangements. Letters went home yesterday about the Annual Selwyn Egg Hunt. Next week we will be kicking off our oviparous animals unit, and the egg hunt will finish it off. Please be sure to send in a gallon milk jug (cleaned and empty), and 21 eggs numbered in sharpie from 1 to 21. Parents are welcome to attend the egg hunt from 1:20 - 2:00 in the front grassy area by the big rock. Our hunt will be on Wednesday April 5th, Spring picture forms went home today. Don’t forget to place your scholastic order! Order some fun books for your little reader and help support our class. Our code is P6TQZ. This is the link to order. Have a great weekend! Mrs. Seropian

Happy Friday Families!
What a St. Patrick’s Day it has been! Today was a whirlwind filled with riddles left by a mischievous leprechaun, but it all payed off in the end when we got our “gold!” The green tasting was a fabulous success. Thank you to everyone who volunteer and sent in items to make this such a success! I was so proud of you kiddos and their willingness to try new foods! We have enjoyed learning about the rainbow and ROY G. BIV this week. We capped it off today with using prisms to create rainbows! We saw lots of rainbows, but no pots of gold at the end. Next week we will be talking about weather. This week we also learned about telling time! Order forms for our class memory book went home today! The book turns out to be a beautiful color hard bound keepsake (you will want one!). If you would like to purchase a book they are $20. If you are interested in helping me purchase additional “scholarship” books for students please let me know. I would love for everyone to have one. In case you missed last week, here is more about them: The children will each write about a favorite memory from kindergarten so far. They will also do a full page color illustration to go along with their writing. The pages will then be published into a hardbound book by Student Treasures Publishing (a Scholastic company). This book is so precious and makes a wonderful keepsake for the year. Also, dont forget that to help make the memory books, we will need loads of Sharpies! The writing will need to be traced in black, and all of the illustrations will need to be colored in sharpies to look their best. The regular fine tip is best and any color would be great! Along with all of Selwyn, our class has “adopted” 2 CMPD officers from the Myers Park Division. We have enjoyed writing letters to them and corresponding. Officer Cantrell has even come into our class to tell us about being a Police Officer and is scheduled to come in next week to read his favorite police story book to us. I will be putting together goodie bags for our officers from our class. They will be delivered to the officers at their station. If you would like to send in a goodie to contribute, please do! Things like gum, mints, candies, snacks, or small gift cards are wonderful to include. Don’t forget to place your scholastic order!
