Happy Friday Families!
This week we enjoyed learning about the Holidays Around the World. We are looking forward to Monday when we will travel around the kindergarten classrooms doing a Holiday Around the World Celebration. We also had great fun doing science with candy canes! Thank you to all who donated candy canes. Our Holiday Party today was a great success! I think all of the kids had a wonderful time! Thank you to everyone who donated items and time to help make this happen :) In your student’s folders today is a gift that they have made for you---they are very proud of them. Polar Express Day will be on Tuesday (reminder that this is a half day and dismissal is at 12:00). For this fun day the kids may wear their jammies to school and bring one stuffed animal. We will take an imaginary trip on the Polar Express to the North Pole. It will be great fun! Cookies and Cocoa Reading Challenge: Over the holiday break it is incredibly important that you continue to read with your student. As a fun way to encourage reading we will have a cocoa party following the break. Students have the opportunity to earn marshmallows for the coco if they read 13 books (which equals one book per day of break) and a cookie if they read 26 (or 2 books per day of break.) Please log books on the log provided. Raz Kids is a great resource to use to have access to books on your student’s level to read for the challenge. We also “cleaned out” our Book Boxes today and students brought home all of their paper sight word books. These may also be used for reading over the break. It is a great chance to check in and see if your child has mastered the words we have worked on. White Folders went home today. Please review the work enclosed and return them Monday. Thank you! Thank you to everyone who has made this holiday so special. Thank you to the moms who volunteered during the staff luncheon and gave us a lovely long lunch today. Thank you to everyone who has sent in such thoughtful gifts. Box Tops! Don’t forget to send them in. Have a great weekend and break! Mrs. Seropian and Mrs. Holbert

Happy Friday Families!
This week we enjoyed learning about wants and needs as well as the beginning of our Holidays Around the World unit. We also worked on measurement. We enjoyed measuring and collecting data on the sizes of shoes we have in our classroom. We measured with cubes and rulers. We used our data to create a graph and discuss. So much fun! RAZ Kids Reading: Please utilize the RAZ kids resource our class has purchased. I have sent home a second copy of login instructions for those of you who have misplaced it. This is a fantastic way to support your child’s reading. I cannot say enough about the benefits of any and all reading that they do, especially as we are approaching a long break from school. This is a great tool to keep reading over the holidays and is easy to do while traveling. Disguise a Gingerbread: after a number of students requested additional copies, Mrs. Holbert and I placed a second copy of the activity in everyone’s folder who has not returned a gingerbread. Please be sure to send these in by Monday December 4th. We will be presenting them to kick off our gingerbread book study. Volunteers Needed: If you are available to volunteer to watch our class during the annual staff holiday lunch, please let me know. It is Friday December 15 from 11:00-12:30. If you would be interested, please let me know. Your support is greatly appreciated. Scholastic: Don’t forget to place your scholastic order to help support our classroom library! My class code is RD4R8 You will enter our class code when you order. I will place our class order at the end of each month. The books are delivered to the school and your purchase helps earn books and resources for our class. Box Tops! Don’t forget to send them in. Classroom need: The kids love using markers and we are almost out. If you can donate a box of crayola washable markers it would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you would be willing to cut out circles for an upcoming craft it would be wonderful! I need to cut 60 red and 60 green circles. I could send some home with your student for you to cut, and you could then return them to school when you are finished. Please visit our Signup Genius for Mystery Reader and sign up! Have a great long weekend! Mrs. Seropian and Mrs. Holbert |
