Happy Friday Families!
This week we have enjoyed continuing to learn about maps. We even used a map on Pirate Day to find our treasure! Thank you to everyone who sent in treasures! We also enjoyed going to the Asheville Tourists Baseball Game. It was a little hot, but the kids loved seeing the game, and we even got free hats! Thank you to all of our volunteers! ABC Countdown: Make sure you follow along with your ABC Countdown calendar. Yearbooks: Yearbooks are on sale for $20. They are such a wonderful keepsake of the year. Field Day Volunteers Needed: You can volunteer for a half day 8:30-12:00 or 12:15-2:30 or you can help all day! We still really need volunteers, so if you are interested, please let me know. Proctors Needed: Students in 3-5 grades are preparing to take the EOG. Proctors are desperately needed to help with testing. If you would be able to proctor on May 30 or 31 please let me know! It would be greatly appreciated. Classroom Need: We are in need of small items / toys for our class treasure box. Anything would be appreciated :) We also need bottled water for field day. Year End Picnic: It is hard to believe, but we will have our End of Year Picnic on Tuesday June 5. You are invited to bring a towel or blanket and have lunch with your student, beginning at 11:10. We will then head back to our classroom for a short celebration of all we have done this year! This is always a special way to wind up our year together, and I hope you all can join us. Please fill out the lunch choice form that went home today. REMINDERS: Snack: Please send a snack with your child daily. Water Bottles: Please send your student to school with a water bottle so that they have access to water throughout the day. Also, please be sure that the bottle closes securely to avoid any leaks! RAZ Kids: Don’t forget to utilize your child’s subscription to RAZ kids at home! Such a great resource for extra reading at home. Reading Reef: Please continue working on this at home. Don’t forget that in the Information tab of our website, you will find a pdf with flashcards for the words. Some fun ideas for games include, printing 2 copies and playing memory, go fish, or uno. We also raced cars to learn about how inclines create different levels of motion with toy cars. ABC Countdown: Make sure you follow along with your ABC Countdown calendar. Don’t forget that Pirate Day is next week! Please send in 22 small treasures for us to fill the treasure chest with. Think things like small plastic toys, stamps, jewels, etc. Oriental Trading is a great place to look for inexpensive treasures. *We got another new student this week and our class total is now 22 students* Asheville Tourists: We will be going to the Asheville Tourists game on May 23. This week was a lovely Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you all for helping to make it special! Mrs. Holbert and I particularly enjoyed having a long kid-free lunch today; what a treat! Also, thank you to everyone who sent in paint! Our classroom artists really appreciate it. Mother’s Day: The kids have worked very hard on a Mother’s Day gift for all you moms. This week we enjoyed working on our Three Nanny Goats performance. The kiddos did a fabulous job! Everyone knew their part and songs and the show was a success. Shout-out to our students who were Narrator, Fanny Goat, Billy Goat, Troll, and Student Leader! Volunteers Needed: Friday May 11 is the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. In order to attend the lovely lunch, Mrs. Holbert need 2 volunteers to cover our class while we are gone from 11-1. Please be sure to pack a snack. Despite two large boxes of snacks being sent in, we have gone through them in less than 2 weeks. If you child forgets a snack we cannot guarantee that we will have one to provide. Classroom Need: We are in need of Crayola Tempera Paint. We use this daily in our art center as well as for art projects. It can be purchased on Amazon here. We need all colors, but we are completely out of yellow, green, black, pink, and brown.
