Happy Friday Families!
We have had another great week here in Kindergarten celebrating Dr. Seuss and Read Across America! But we have ended the week on a bittersweet note; we have said goodbye to Mrs Holbert as our assistant. We are wishing her well in her new pursuits, but she will be greatly missed. In math we are working on using addition to solve equations In literacy we are working on reading familiar books with fluency. Words:Our book this week from Reading A-Z for high frequency words was Some Have. Our words were some, have, one, two. Reading Reef: As a fun way to build our recognition of high frequency words, we will be having the Reading Reef Challenge. Today your student brought home a word list for set A. Help your student practice reading these words (in a random order). There are flashcards for the words available to print from our class website, under the information section. If you do not have access to a printer and would like a set, please let me know. When your student has mastered the words, sign and return the sheet. If they demonstrate for us that they know the words, they will earn a fish for our reef! There are 4 word lists, each with a different fish earned for the reef. This challenge will go through May, so there is time to practice :) Supplies needed: We are in need of items for our treasure box. Any donation would be appreciated! Things like toys from fast food, or extras from birthday party goodies bags are always great! Or little toys from Oriental Trading. Variety Show: please check out the flyer in your students’ Cougar Folder for more information on our Variety Show.
