Happy Friday Families!
We have had another great week here in Kindergarten. We enjoyed finishing the week off with our much anticipated Fun Run! Thank you to everyone who helped raise money to support our school! In math we are working on using addition to solve story problems. We are also working on learning the combinations of ten. In literacy we are working on reading familiar books with fluency and answering text dependant comprehension questions. Words:Our book this week from Reading A-Z for high frequency words was What Is Out There? Our words were your, what, out, there. Reading Reef: As a fun way to build our recognition of high frequency words, we will be having the Reading Reef Challenge. Please practice the word lists being sent home with your student. There are flashcards for the words available to print from our class website, under the information section. If you do not have access to a printer and would like a set, please let me know. When your student has mastered the words, sign and return the sheet. If they demonstrate for us that they know the words, they will earn a fish for our reef! There are 4 word lists, each with a different fish earned for the reef. This challenge will go through May, so there is time to practice :) Supplies needed: We are in need of items for our treasure box. Any donation would be appreciated! Things like toys from fast food, or extras from birthday party goodies bags are always great! Or little toys from Oriental Trading. Doughnuts and Discussions: Will be K-2 Tues Mar 26 and 3-5 Wed Mar 27. For the K-2 day we will begin with an assembly at 8:15 and then transition into classrooms for different activities. We will be doing some Reader’s Theater performances demonstrating a few of the 7 Habits. Stay tuned for more details! REMINDERS: Early Release day March 15 No School March 18 Scholastic: Don’t forget to place your scholastic order to help support our classroom library! My class code is RD4R8 You will enter our class code when you order. I will place our class order at the end of each month. The books are delivered to the school and your purchase helps earn books and resources for our class. RAZ Kids: This is an amazing resource that gives you the ability to access digital books that are on your child’s level. Please consider utilizing this resources as another great way to read at home with your student! Snack: Please send a nut free snack with your child daily. Water Bottles: Please send your student to school with a water bottle so that they have access to water throughout the day. Also, please be sure that the bottle closes securely to avoid any leaks!
