It's been a great week here in Kindergarten learning about Earth Day and beginning to learn about butterflies! Thank you to those who donated caterpillars to our class! We are LOVING watching them grow! In math we continued working on number bonds and decomposing numbers. In literacy we reviewed narrative writing and told about what we did over the break. K Graduation pictures: Although we do not do a formal kindergarten graduation, we do take K graduation pictures where the students can wear a cap and gown. These pictures will be May 3 and order forms went home this week. K Music Program: Be sure to come out and enjoy the K music program on Thursday May second at 6. Doors open at 5:30 Postcard Challenge: As we prepare for our unit on Maps, we will be collecting postcards! Our goal is to collect a postcard from all 50 states. Postcards can be sent from your travels over spring break, from friends, family, or anyone you know willing to help us with this project. We will collect the cards through the end of the year it hopes of getting all 50! Thank you for your help! REMINDERS: Zoo: We are going to the Greenville zoo on May 31! Reading Reef: Reminder that there are flashcards for the words available to print from our class website, under the information section. If you do not have access to a printer and would like a set, please let me know. When your student has mastered the words, sign and return the sheet. If they demonstrate for us that they know the words, they will earn a fish for our reef! There are 4 word lists, each with a different fish earned for the reef. This challenge will go through May, so there is time to practice :) Scholastic: Don’t forget to place your scholastic order to help support our classroom library! My class code is RD4R8 You will enter our class code when you order. I will place our class order at the end of each month. The books are delivered to the school and your purchase helps earn books and resources for our class. RAZ Kids: This is an amazing resource that gives you the ability to access digital books that are on your child’s level. Please consider utilizing this resources as another great way to read at home with your student! Snack: Please send a nut free snack with your child daily. Water Bottles: Please send your student to school with a water bottle so that they have access to water throughout the day. Also, please be sure that the bottle closes securely to avoid any leaks!
